Well you’ve gone and done it. You’re pregnant.
This could be planned, unplanned or simply a run of the mill life-changing event. One thing that is for certain, is that you are likely to have Morning Sickness in the first trimester. If you are lucky enough not to, then count your blessings because women have long suffered this right of pregnancy passage including vomiting, nausea, fever, and aches. Well the great thing about women suffering Morning Sickness for ages, is that there are many tips and tricks out there for you to try. Don’t worry, if one doesn’t work move on to the next and your sure to find something to End The Morning Sickness.
Staying cool is a great Morning Sickness Relief. Being hot and sweaty and such doesn’t make you feel good to begin with so if the nausea is imminent get to a cool room or crank the air conditioning down. Sometimes even a cool shower is enough to wake up those nerves and get them feeling energized again. Get plenty of rest, but try not to lay down directly after eating. Wait approximately 20 minutes after a meal but take naps when you need to. Try to get out of bed as slowly as possible, rising quickly and jumping to action is not the word of the day.
Odors are your enemy. A pregnant woman’s sense of smell is extremely sensitive due to the increase of hormones to the system. You will often smell things from far away, over top of other stronger odors, or even things that aren’t even there. Nevertheless, smells will get your stomach into a lot of trouble so avoiding smells you dislike is a must. Turning on fans and lighting candles that smell fragrant while cooking is one way to find Morning Sickness Relief, but avoiding the odors altogether is even better. Cooking in the microwave, interestingly, emits very little odor and what odor is released is carried away by the fan of the microwave so if at all possible use the microwave whenever you can. Carrying a handkerchief rubbed with peppermint or teatree oil is also a great Morning Sickness Relief, the sharp clean scent of it can turn your nausea around if a foul odor makes it to your nose.
Lastly, what you eat obviously can make or break you when it comes to Morning Sickness and Nausea. Listen to your body, it is rarely wrong. Those cravings may sound silly but your body is needing something ‘salty’ or ‘crispy’ or ‘sweet’ for a reason. Denying it and trying to eat what you think is better for you may turn your craving into a bout of nausea, and then your body is working against you. Keep a couple bags of peppermint tea at work, the clean peppermint smell and taste is a good defense against a sudden bout of Morning Sickness.
